Top 9 Interior Design Trends in 2024

Ellen

When you walk into a space, you might notice a few things: the colors, the furniture, the lighting, but most importantly, the feeling of the space. Does it feel fresh and energized? Or does it feel dated and unactivated?

The feeling you get when you enter a room is a direct reflection of the interior design of the space. For interior designers, each choice is intentional. To create an activated and elevated feel, incorporating the newest trends and mixing them with timeless, classic elements is crucial.

Here are the most prominent design trends so far in 2024, along with how our design team has incorporated these trends before into LV’s projects.

Stone Fruit

Gentle, sweet, and slightly tangy, peach and apricot will emerge as the prevailing tones in the color forecasts for home trends in 2024. Pantone’s 2024 color of the year, Peach Fuzz, offers a sense of modern elegance and radiates warmth into any space.

You’ll find pops of this palette inside Sweetwater, from apartment doors to tile finishes, as well as in Whistler’s peach accent rug and Rambler ATX’s model unit bedding.

Drenched in Color

Embracing bold hues and playful palettes, this trend injects energy and personality into every color, creating visually stunning and dynamic environments that reflect the spirit of the times.

At LV, we celebrate unique color play and customized palettes in our spaces, from the rich, elegant tones of Estelle’s, to the retro vibes of Victory Lap, to the bright, feminine hues at Waterloo.

Plumped Up Furniture

Designers are shifting towards a more laid-back approach in seating designs that seamlessly blend comfort and everyday practicality, all while exuding high-level refinement and style-desirability.

Although this trend began towards the end of 2023, we have continued to embrace curves in chairs and sofas this year.

Stripes

As we know, patterns navigate the trend cycle as swiftly in interiors as they do in fashion. After experiencing the spotlight with ginghams and checkerboard prints in 2023, we give way to stripes becoming the next widely embraced pattern in 2024. In recent months, we have seen bold and eye-catching stripes gaining popularity. Their timeless, simple, and effortless appeal continues to resonate with the current style preferences.

Undone Maximalism

In the first few months of 2024, it’s clear we are moving away from the previously prevalent and impractical trend of extreme homeware minimalism that characterized interior design for the past decade. Instead, there is a shift towards embracing patterns, incorporating book stacks and in our case vinyl’s, opting for open shelving, and creating gallery walls. The focus is not necessarily on untidiness but on imbuing a space with a lived-in, functional, and enjoyable atmosphere.

Rambler ATX embodies the essence of desert modern maximalism, evident in the lobby spaces adorned with an array of curated bookshelves and a unique record room. In Estelle’s, the staircase boasts an eclectic collection of wall art, while Whistler’s podcast room features music-themed wallpaper and corresponding vinyls from Atlanta musicians as wall decor.

Updated Deco

We’ve stepped into 2024 with a reimagined Art Deco era, where timeless elegance meets contemporary flair. Updated deco interior design trends bring a fusion of luxurious materials, geometric patterns and sleek lines, infusing spaces with a sense of opulence and sophistication–characterized by gold accents, bold silhouettes and refined detailing.

Resurgence of Arts and Crafts

In 2024, the Arts and Crafts movement will experience a powerful resurgence, centering on the use of natural materials like rich wood and textured plaster. These earthy elements not only ground your space, but also evoke a sense of authenticity and connection to nature. As seen on the yearbook walls in Victory Lap in ATX, embracing simplicity becomes an art form as handcrafted furniture and decor take center stage.

Contemporary Drapery Trims

It was once dismissed as too traditional, but this emerging design style has undergone a transformation with an ultra-contemporary take on tassels, embellishments, and finishing touches. As a fabric textile/drapery trend, this one exhibits enduring appeal, elevating an ordinary piece into something with both dimension and style.

Biophilia Remains Staple

The emphasis on connecting with nature is evident in the incorporation of plants and trees both indoors and outdoors, fostering biophilic designs that seamlessly integrate interiors with the natural environment. In 2024, the biophilic movement will remain strong. This not only adds aesthetic appeal but also contributes to a healthier and more harmonious living environment.

Our design team puts an emphasis on not only providing a space where you feel at home, but prioritizing wellness in every step.

At LV, we enjoy the challenge of embracing new trends to create activated, energized spaces. Spaces that feel good, where people want to spend time, and that inspire them to look up, slow down and engage with their community.

We can’t wait to see how these 2024 trends make their way into our upcoming projects.
